 Alexander Castle, the oldest establishment in the city of Mymensingh. Maharaja Suryakanta Acharya spent about 45 thousand takas in 1879, then the District Magistrate built this palace to protect Alexander's property.

The local people named it 'iron kuthi' because the iron was used more in the palace. Since its inception, many renowned personalities have been recruited in the building. In 1926 Rabindranath Tagore stayed for some time in Alexander Cassel during my visit to Mymensingh. Apart from this, Lord Curzon, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, Nawab Sir Salimullah, Kamal Pasha, also came here.
Alexander Castle is currently used as a teacher training center library.

How to go

It takes three hours to go from Dhaka to Mymensingh. The fare of the bus will be between 120-130 taka. For the purpose of Mymensingh leaving a lot of buses from Mohakhali in Dhaka. Besides, bus travels through Kishoreganj, Jamalpur, Netrokona, Sherpur, Mymensingh.

Total 7 mail trains come from Mymensingh daily from morning to night till 11pm from the capital Dhaka Dhaka. Besides, there are three local trains coming to Mymensingh daily from Dhaka. At Mymensingh auto rickshaw or auto can go straight to Alexander Castle, the fare will be 20-30 taka.

Where to eat

Hotel Khandker, Sarinda, Rice Stair, Rome Three, Seven Eleven, Hotel Minar and Mymensingh Press Club Canteen in the Meal Hotel are among the best. All types of food are available in these hotels.
In the city's traditional and old hotel, Khandaker offers only local food. Hotel owner Khandakar Sharif said that at least Tk 50 to Tk 300 / - per person can eat domestic and high-quality food. There are also many other food hotels in the city.
