The name of a beautiful historic mosque in Noakhali district is called Bazra Shahi Mosque. In 1741-42, Zamindar Amanullah dug a huge tank with 30 hectares of land in front of his house. In the beautiful surroundings of this dighi, this historic mosque is about 116 feet long with a magnificent arcade of 74 feet in width and about 3 feet high with a dome of about 20 feet high.
To strengthen this mosque, around 20 feet of soil is frightened from the bottom. Dome is decorated with lovely marble stones. There are three bowl doors for the entrance to the mosque. There are several domes on the entrance of the mosque.
The Qibla wall has 3 mirrored mihrabs. The middle dome is slightly larger in the three domes of the mosque. There are several small monuments with the dome of the mosque. There are three gates below the dome on the east side of the mosque. The mosque was repaired 177 years later in 1909.
On the special request of Mughal Emperor Mohammad Shah, one of the most famous Buzurg alim of the holy city of Makkah, Hazrat Maulana Shah Abu Siddiq was appointed as the first Imam of the historic mosque.
His descendants have been performing the responsibility of the Imam of this mosque as per the merits. At present, Imam Hasan Siddiqi, the seventh maiden of Imam Sahib, is performing the duty of the Imam of that mosque.
How to go
Noakhali's Maijdi will go by road or rail. Any local bus service in Sonaimuri, from Soni Muri to CNG auto rickshaw, rickshaw in front of Bajra Hospital and walking to 200 yards west on foot will reach the Bajra Shahi Mosque.Or you can reach the Bazra Shahi Mosque Complex by walking or riding on a bus.
