Dhakeswari Temple is the most important temple of Dhaka. The temple is located in a small ambient wall on the northern side of Dhakeswari Road, approximately 1.6 kilometers south-west of Salimullah Hall. There is a lion gate to enter the temple premises. The lion is called Nahabatkhana Arcane.

According to local, a king named Balall Sen, the builder of the temple. But there is considerable difference between whether the Ballal Sen is the famous king of the Sen dynasty. Some people claim that the Dhakeswari statue and temples established here are under the rule of Maharaja Ballal Sen. But it is not acceptable considering the architectural construction strategy.

Because of the reign of the Sena Dynasty before the arrival of Muslims in the Indian subcontinent, Bengal's architecture did not use the mixture of lime and sand as a mortar. But the Dhekseshwari temple is built on the high level of Chun-Bali sandstone, which is the architectural style of the Muslim period in Bengal.

The main gate of the Dhakeswari temple is two. There is also a gate in the middle. The idol of Durga Mara, directly under the main gate. On the entrance of the entrance gate, the entrance to the temple is a little further pond. Another building nearby.

There are 4 Shiva temples here and on the side of Santosh Mother Temple, place of enjoyment, kitchen, fruit-cutting room, shoe store and the eastern side of the building, administrative building and quarters office room, guest room / guest room, meeting room, library, Ansar camp and beside Public toilets and melange There are dome on every building such as Shiva Mandir and Node temple.

Another part of the Dhakeswari temple is the pond situated inside it. Which still enhances the beauty of the temple. In ancient pond, the devotees offer prayers and pleasures. Enclose the pond on both sides. Here there are small species of different species of fish.

The temple is now more beautifully arranged and renovated than in the past. The flower garden inside it is one of the examples. The beauty of the temple has been enhanced with new varieties of flowers.

  • Friday - Mother worship of Puja, Time: 10.00 am
  • Saturday - Saturday worship, time: 6:00 pm.
  • Sunday - Kirtan Hari Service, Time: 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm.
  • Monday - Shiva worship, other, time: from 7.00am to 9.00pm
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - Durga Mother's Worship, Time: 7.00am to 9.00pm

In addition to the above mentioned daily and weekly prayers, Durga is worshiped every day and Arati is worshiped every day at 7.00 p.m. Besides, there is also a lot of worship in Shiva Puja and Nath Mandir. It can be said 13 worship in 12 months.

How to go

After going to Shahbagh by bus from Motijheel in the capital, the rickshaw could be taken to a temple of aesthetic located on the south-western corner of Salimullah Hall of Dhaka University. However, from Motijheel directly to rickshaw or CNG operated auto or taxi cab. Direct Rickshaw will be 50-75, CNG operated auto or taxi cab 150-220 from Motijheel. Shahbagh bus ticket from Motijheel will be Tk 10 and rickshaw will be Tk 20-30 from Shahbagh.
